AWAKE, AWAKE TO LOVE AND WORK

One of my favourite hymns is called AWAKE, awake to love and work.

AWAKE, awake to love and work, The lark is in the sky,
The fields are wet with diamond dew, The worlds awake to cry
Their blessings on the Lord of life, As he goes meekly by.

Come let thy voice be one with theirs, Shout with their shout of praise;
See how the giant sun soars up, Great lord of years and days!
So let the love of Jesus come, And set thy soul ablaze.

To give and give and give again
What God has given thee, To spend thyself nor count the cost, To serve right gloriously
The God who gave all worlds that are
And all that are to be.

(Geoffrey Anketell Studdert-Kennedy (1883-1929)

I know a lot of hymns as I have grown up in the Methodist faith. They have been an inspiration throughout my life. They were written by people filled with the spirit. We can all be touched by God if we open ourselves to him. Most of the meetings I attend finish with the following words known as The Grace which we all say to one another:

For the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all for ever more. Amen.
