ELLESMERE LAKE, SHROPSHIRE

Hello again, here I am at a place called Ellesmere Lake and the sun is shining
Do you remember the tongue twister about the swan?
This tells you all about the mere
This place hasn't changed much over the years

I've had a nice day out and now I am going home, goodbye

SWEET PEA SHOW - WEM 2012

Because it is such a dismal night I have decided to cheer everyone up with these pictures taken at the Wem Sweet Pea Show in July 2012. I wish you could smell the sweet peas. On entering the marquee the aroma was simply amazing and certainly helped freshen the senses.

Little White Rabbit wanted his picture taking

MORNING MEDITAITON - HAPPINESS

Happiness is a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but which if you sit down quietly, may alight upon you.

OFF TO CAE MAWR

We are off to Cae Mawr to look after our friends pets this weekend - update Sunday or Monday

40s NIGHT BLACK COUNTRY MUSEUM

Last weekend we visited the Black Country Museum near Wolverhampton, they were holding their first 40s night.

This was an interesting shop

LWR enjoyed seeing the motor cycles

These people are all queuing for fish & chips cooked 1940s style and served in a paper bag, boy were they good

Everyone enjoyed a sing along in the old pub, by candlelight

Bye for now, hope they do this again next year!

TODAY'S MEDITATION

Thought the following quote was quite appropriate for the start of the Olympics!

Give up winning and losing
and then find joy....

-----------------------------------------

When you see the world as part of yourself
you will take care of it.

When you see yourself as part of the world,
you will be taken care of.

IN AMONGST THE ROSES

O my luve's like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June'
O my luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune
(Robert Burns - A Red, Red Rose)

Oh what lovely roses
This one smells lovely

These photographs were taken in the rose gardens belonging to David Austin, a well known rose grower. His garden centre and rose gardens are in Albrighton nearWolverhampton. The gardens are well worth a visit. We were a little disappointed because you had to book in advance to eat in the wonderful restaurant which we had never had to do before..

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Thoughts lead on to purposes;
purposes go forth in action;
actions for habits;
habits decide character;
and character fixes our destiny
(Tyron Edwards)

Another meditation from my dear Aunt's book on Meditations

MORNING VERSE

 The peace of the earth be with you,
the peace of the heavens too;
the peace of the rivers be with you,
the peace of the oceans too.
Deep peace falling over you.
God's peace, God's peace growining in you

(Guatemalan text translated by Christine Carson (b 1965)

GARDEN SCENES

My garden is very colourful at present, the blue clematis has bene in flower for a long time now. My climbing roses have died off but I have a wonderfully scented blue budleia down the garden. The sun is shining this morning and I hope it will still do so on my return from work which will enable me to continue tidying the garden. The rain of late ha made all the weeds grow.

MORNING HYMN - FOR THE BEAUTY OF THE EARTH

I often wake up with a hymn n my mind and this morning when I drew back the curtains the one that came into it was 'For the Beauty of the Earth' which I share with you today.

For the beauty of the earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies,
Gracious God, to Thee we raise
This our sacrifice of praise.

For the beauty of each hour,
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon and stars of light
(refrain)

For the joy of ear and eye,
For the heart and mind's delight,
For the mystic harmony
Linking sense to sound and sight
(refrain)

For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild
(refrain)

For each perfect gift of Thine
To our race so freely given,
Graces human and divine,
Flowers of earth and buds of heaven:
(refrain)

(Folliott Sandford Pierpoint)

Little White Rabbit was getting quite grubby and so he has been enjoying a bath tonight.

I am seeing how long I can hold my breath
This is the life
Hello, can you get me out now please?
I feel a bit shivvery!

That's better
Pass me the hairdryer
I'm off to sleep now, Goodnight
