EVENING THOUGHTS

Full moon, Friday night.

The duteous day now closeth,
Each flower and tree reposeth,
Shade creeps o'er wild and wood:
Let us, as night is falling,
On God our Maker calling,
Give thanks to him, the giver good.

Now all the heavenly splendour
Breaks forth in starlight tender
From myriad worlds unknown;
And man, the marvel seeing,
Forgets his selfish being,
For joy of beauty not his own.

(From the Yattendon Hymnal)

The news in general continues to depress. Many have lost their lives all over the World this week.
One year has passed since the Japanese Tsunami and we are reminded  by the sights we see on TV.

On a nicer note, a little girl was christened at The Hurst Chapel this morning, her name is: Talula Dawn Whitby, she was very good and smiled in the Minister's arms.

Evening prayer:
Be present, O Merciful God, and protect us through the silent hours of this night, so that we who are fatigued by the changes and chances of this fleeting world, may repose upon thy eternal changelessness.
(Leonine sacramentary, 5th century).
