TONIGHT'S JOURNEY - ABEREIDDY

This is the approach road to Abereiddy in Pembrokeshire where
we have spent many happy holidays
Abereiddy is about 6 miles from St Davids
Abereiddy beach is famous for its graptolite fossils
The Blue Lagoon was once a slate quarry
linked to the sea by a narrow channel.

Overlooking the beach are the ruins of a small group of cottages built for the workers of the Blue Lagoon. These were only abandoned after the floods of 1904. These in turn add "character" to this little hamlet.
Abereiddy, and in particular the lagoon, are favourites for the extreme water sport enthusiasts, who enjoy the thrill of coaststeering, surfing and diving. For the non "thrill seeker", it provides a perfect location for activities such as kayaking and fishing. There are some wonderful coastal walks to be enjoyed and Porthgain with the famous Sloop Inn is an enjoyable walk over the cliffs.

TODAY'S TONGUE TWISTERS

Can you say this quick?

Whether the weather be cold or whether the weather be hot we'll be together whatever the weather whether we like it or not.

-------------------------------------

Through thickest mists and coldest frosts with stoutest hearts and loudest boasts she thrusts her fists against the posts and still insists she sees the ghosts.

We haven't yet had snow this month but it is very cold and is supposed to be getting colder.

MORNING MEDITATION

You will know what you are in time,
for consciousness evolves,
Thoughts lead on to purposes;
purposes go forth in action,
actions for habits;
habits decide character;
and character fixes our destiny

DAY IS DYING IN THE WEST

Hello, hello who have we here? Beginning of the walk.
The sun is beginning to set once again
Sunset down by the River Weaver

Day is dying in the west; Heaven is touching earth with rest; Wait and worship while the night Sets her evening lamps alight Through all the sky.

Lord of life, beneath the dome. Of the universe, Thy home, Gather us who seek Thy face To the fold of Thy embrace, For Thou art nigh.

While the deepending shadows fall. Heart of love enfolding all. Through the glory and the grace, Of the stars that veil Thy face, Our hearts ascend.

When for ever from our sight. Pass the stars, the day, the night. Lord of angels, on our eyes Let eternal morning rise, And shadows end.

Refrain:
(Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts!
Heaven and earth are full of Thee; Heaven and earth are praising Thee, O Lord Most High)
(Mary Lathbury and William Sherwin)

(I remember the above hymn being sung at Blakelees Methodist Chapel, Kingsley, many years ago on one of the anniversaries. I liked the tune and have remembered it all these years). May be some of my viewers will remember it also, if you do please leave a comment.

CHESTER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB

Here is Richard, he is a Chester City Football supporter. The stadium is in the background.

There were a lot of hippos all over England last year, they seemed to appear everywhere

The football club was founded in 1931 and was called Chester FC it became Chester City in 1983

MORNING THOUGHT

happy thoughts and pass
them through your mind

THOUGHTS AT CLOSE OF DAY 29 JANUARY

Have you had a good weekend? I wonder where you have been and what you have been doing. If you have followed my previous blogs you will see we have been out and about. Yesterday we visited Trentham Gardens near Stoke and enjoyed a walk through the wintery gardens and lunch in the pleasant restaurant of the Garden Centre. This morning we joined in worship at The Hurst Methodist Church in Kingsley and this afternoon visited two more garden centres, this time Sycamore Garden Centre and Burley Dam Nurseries near Little Sutton. The weather has been bright but cold. I managed to replace the cover for my windscreen which mysteriously disappeared earlier last week.

The hymn books we are currently using at the chapel are called Singing the Faith and contain many hymns I have yet to learn.  I have chosen one for tonight by John Bell who seems to have written quite a few hymns. I hope you like the words:

Now that evening falls,
gently fades the light;
moon replaces sun
and day takes leave of night.

Gratitude we raise,
for the day that's done
and for what, tomorrow,
waits to be begun.

Gladly we commit
to God's gracious care
those we love and long for,
those whose lives we share.

Glory be to God,
glory to God's Son,
glory to the Spirit
ever three in one.
(John L Bell)

I am off to listen to Radio 2 now, Sunday Half Hour will be on at 8.30 p.m. one of my favourite programmes. Goodnight.

OUR JOURNEY CONTINUES.......

LITTLE WHITE RABBIT VISITS THE HURST CHURCH

"Not many here yet, I hope a few more people come. These chairs are more comfy than the wooden pews which were here last time I visited".
"Oh a few more people have arrived, that's good".
Little white rabbit reads a lesson
Little white rabbit goes to visit the organ
Norman, the organist tells little white rabbit all about the organ
Little white rabbit decides his legs won't reach the pedals of the organ and his arms are not big enough to reach the organ stops, what a pity, never mind, he can still play the piano!
Little white rabbit sits on the communion table after the service. He is looking forward to visiting again at Easter. (The book with the string attached on the right is the prayer book where names of people who need to be remembered are written).

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Be good to yourself.
Be kind,
be patient,
be forgiving
After all,
you're all
you've got.

LITTLE WHITE RABBIT VISITS TRENTHAM GARDENS

Little white rabbit has visited Trentham Garden Centre today, he doesn't know what to make of these ornaments, they don't make a noise!
Little white rabbit wanted me to buy this horse
Little white rabbit climbed this tree
Little white rabbit liked the ducks and geese
"I need a rest now" said little white rabbit
"You can't see me" said little white rabbit
"Yoo, hoo, I am here in the tree"
"Now this is a big urn, I had difficulty getting up here"
"There is a waterfall behind me here"
"I'm not sure about the goose, can you see it? I hope it doesn't bite"
"Time to go home, I walked all round this lake"

CAE MAWR

LIFE'S CLOCK

The clock of life is wound but once.
And no man has the power
To tell just where the hands will stop
At late or early hour.

To lose one's wealth is sad indeed;
To lose one's health is more;
To lose one's soul is such a loss,
As no man can restore.

The present only is your own
Live, love, toil with a will
Place no faith in "tomorrow"
for the clock may then be still.

(A verse on a card of mine)

My dear old dad would often be called upon to set and mend clocks when they went wrong. There was an old Grandfather clock in his old home and I would often go with him to set the weights and keep it in good condition.

LITTLE WHITE RABBIT PLAYS PIANO

Little White Rabbit has been playing the piano today

Little white rabbit doesn't want to go home

I've got rhythm, I've got music!

END OF WEEK PICTURES - DAHLIAS

I thought these pictures of dahlias would brighten up a cold, wet, January evening.

My husband grows dahlias.
These lovely displays were taken at the Malvern Show.

TAKE TIME

Take time to think
It is the source of power.
Take time to play
It is the secret of perpetual youth
Take time to laugh...
It is the music of the soul.
Take time to pray
It is the gtreatest power on Earth.

EVENING IN BLACKPOOL

Fancy a turn on this wheel?
Can those be starlings?
Good old Blackpool Tower a well known landmark.
Sunset and the evening star!
Over and out, goodnight!

TRAIN SPOTTING VIDEO

Just see what happens during my husband's filming of what should have been a brilliant steam train video. (He doesn't usually swear!)
