Do you have a favourite tea room? My husband and I recently came across a fascinating tea room in Criccieth, it was full of varying sizes of mugs and jugs hanging from beams and all over the walls were little verses in picture frames. I have a brooch with the words 'Mizpah' on, I was told that these little brooches were popular in Victorian times and that Mizpah was a word from the Bible meaning 'may the Lord watch between thyself and myself while we are absent from one another' hence the brooch was often given by a lover. I was surprised to see that one of the verses on the wall was a poem called Mizpah which I wrote down, I will try to find it and write on my blog.
We often visit Bettys tea rooms (can be expensive so only for a special treat) in Harrogate, there are 2 in York and last year found the other Bettys in Northallerton.
If you have never visited the Willowpool in Lymm, Cheshire, you are in for a treat as there is an unusual tea room there, it is always beautifully decorated at Christmas time.
The Hollies farm shop on the A49 near Tarporley have recently opened a coffee shop.
In the Winter edition of "This England" there is an article on tea rooms and it mentions Cintra's Tea Room in Hathersage, Derbyshire, that is a place I will be visiting on my next trip to Derbyshire. We visit on in Matlock sometimes which sells all kinds of tea and coffee.
