CHADDESDEN BARLEY WATER

1 Tablespoon pearl barley is scalded and the water thrown away. Put barley in large basin, add the peel of  4 lemons and 8 lumps of sugar.
Pour 2 quarts (2 pints) of boiling water over this.
Cover and leave to get cold. When cold pour slowly into a jug but do not strain off the sediment.
Then add the juice of an extra lemon and drink for colds.
