THE HUM 2

Woken at 3 pm by a click, this starts the hum which one cannot escape from, it continues for about one hour and then clicks off starting again around 5 a.m. It is worse on frosty nights. We believe it is due to power being distributed to the pylons in the village, one a distributor and the other a carrier. Two years ago I was in correspondence with The National Grid who confirmed the noise and said there was nowhere you could escape from it.  Fortunately for my husband he never hears it but a neighbour does.
