Last weekend we visited Durham to see my son who had kindly bought me a new mobile phone. He took us to Runswick Bay on Saturday and after a breezy walk on the beach we visited the Ship Inn which is now a cafe in the nearby village. It is well worth a visit and the sandwiches and cakes were delicious. They were holding a folk evening on Saturday night which sounded good.
We saw our first snow on our journey home, the hills looked like a scene on a Christmas card.
My son and his wife are off to visit the German markets today starting their journey from Newcastle to Amsterdam and then taking a train to Munich and visiting the Christmas markets in Munich, Nuremberg and Regensburg.
