Flora Klickmann

Flora was an editor in days when few females rose to this position. She owned a cottage in the hills above Tintern Abbey and would escape there at weekends.

She began writing features about her garden which proved so popular she had quite a few books published called The Flower Patch which I have found very interesting and entertaining

The Girl's Own, an old publication

Autumn leaves

I have been brushing up leaves today. I love Autumn and the colours of the trees. When I see falling leaves I am reminded of a poem my son learnt at school.many years ago. Here it is:

"October gave a party the leaves by hundreds came, The Chestnuts, Oaks and Maples, And leaves of every name.

The sunshine spread a carpet, And everything was grand, Miss Weather lead the dancing, Professor Wind the band".

By George Cooper.

Corner of garden, the witch is still on her broom

This mornings work. Lots of leaves still to be gathered.
