"COME ON! COME ON! AND IT IS FIVE TO THREE" - BETJEMAN

During our recent holiday in Cornwall we visited St Enodoc Church where Sir John Betjeman is buried. John Betjeman first knew St Enodoc when he came to Trebetherick for summer holdays as a boy in 1910. It always had a special place in his affections. Sir John was buried h ere on 22 May 1984 his grave is just inside the lych-gate on the right.

It was a delightful place to visit, so peaceful. Sir John wrote a poem entitled "Sunday Afternoon Service in St Enodoc Church, Cornwall", it is rather long but the "Come on! come on! and it is five to three" is part of it.
